If we have committed to support the change, either as presented, or by way of negotiation, we come to the next step in mastery of change; Implementing the Change. This step may appear straight forward, and for the most part it is, however there are some things to consider to implement, or roll-out the Change. Both teams upstream, and downstream in the business process need to be prepared for the change. A suggestion is to reach out to your business partners that will be impacted by the change to make sure all are on the same page with regards to buy in on the Change, and actual implementation timing.
At the individual level, we want to do some planning to make sure we have addressed all potential gaps . We do this to give the Chance the best chances for success. A suggestion is we look to our planner, or calendar to help us with the change implementation. If there are problems that arise during implementation, we need to understand how, and to who, we report these issues, and who has the responsibility to resolve these problems.
Here is a list of items that can be used as a resource as we prepare to implement the change, and roll out the change:
Reach out to business partners both upstream, and downstream to confirm they are supporting the Change.
Confirm with business partners, team mates, and your supervisor the timing of the implementation of the Change.
Use your electronic calendar to mark off, and remind you of the timing of the change.
Get, or a create a mapping of escalation contacts if problems around implementation arise.
Use your calendar to mark off additional resources, and tasks that implementation of the change might drive.
If the Change may impact your daily, or weekly schedule, make sure that this has been communicated to the right people. This includes your family, husband, wife, or partner!
In some ways implementation of the Change is the most exciting step in mastery of change, as this is where the Change comes to fruition; it manifests in our life. A small effort in preparation for roll out of change, will deliver big dividends in success of the Change implementation. If we take an ACTIVE roll in implementation we will be better employees, team mates, business partners, leaders, and more responsible, and successful individuals in general. If we manage ourselves well in this phase, we are a step close to being a master of change!
